The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) intends to consolidate its warehouses and property holdings into fewer sites nationwide. Property is now being stored in approximately 70 IRS operated warehouses located throughout the nation. The objective is to consolidate this storage into fewer facilities, strategically located to achieve the optimum overall balance of prompt, high quality service, storage cost, labor cost, and transportation cost. The required services include warehouse storage and transport of property assets, such as office furnishings, office equipment, etc., used in support of nationwide office operations, and an integrated data base for inventorying all warehoused property. The requirement will primarily be for storage and transport services. Related services such as furniture setup and disassembly may also be required from time to time. The proposed duration is to be for a base year with four 12 month option periods. This action is subject to the Service Contract Act and the places of performance are undetermined at this time. Wage determinations will be requested at time of award. The solicitation is anticipated to be issued on or about April 29, 1996, with a response date of approximately 45 days after issuance of the solicitation.
