Specialist, (215)897-7057. CORRECTION: The Naval Surface Warfare
Center, Carderock Division, requests information for identifying a
field test meter for the detection and measurement of chloride ion in
a water matrix. This meter is intended to be operated shipboard by
ship's force personnel. The meter shall have the capability to measure
chloride ion in the presence of the following possible interferences:
heavy metals, sulfate, phosphates, morpholine, hardness, EDTA,
nitrites, ammonia, carbon dioxide and hydrazine. The optimum range of
detection levels for chloride ion is 300 ppb to 150 ppm. Additional
meter features desired include: uncomplicated operating and calibration
procedures; digital readout; compact and rugged construction. The meter
shall also have the capability to measure chloride ion without the
addition of hazardous chemical reagents to the water matrix. This
synopsis is for information identifying possible sources for a Chloride
Ion Meter and planning purposes only, and does not constitute a
