COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 1,1996 PSA#1542THIRTY YEAR NAVAL AIRCRAFT TECHNOLOGY PROJECTION Due 043096. Point of
Contact: Kenneth Sherman, Code 212, (215)441-1559. By this
announcement, the Naval Air Warfare Center, Warminster, PA is
soliciting interest in participation, on a non-cost basis, in a Naval
aircraft technology assessment to develop a thirty (30) year projection
of technologies and technical trends which may be applicable to manned
and unmanned Naval aviation in the year 2025. This two-year study is
entitled ``Future Aircraft Technology Silhouettes (FACTS). Thrust areas
of interest include; aircraft structures; aircraft machinery;
integrated avionics; cockpit technology; aircraft dynamics; sea based
support and aircraft propulsion. This effort will be an unconstrained,
technology-driven look at ideas, concepts and trends which could form
the basis for future research and exploratory development programs
supported by the Office of Naval Research and the Naval Air Systems
Command. The ideas and concepts generated by this announcement may be
integrated with inputs provided by in-house Navy personnel to produce
future systems projections and technology trends which will be
presented and discussed at a Naval Aircraft Technology Workshop, to be
held in early fiscal year 1997. The workshop, with industry
participation, will refine the information developed during this study
phase and help to identify key research and development programs to
enable the realization of the future system concepts. Anything
submitted can potentially be given wide distribution to both government
and industry. Therefore, no proprietary or classified information
should be submitted. Each submission should clearly indicate the thrust
areas of interest. The government does not intend to award any
contracts on the basis of this solicitation. Participation is totally
voluntary and will be uncompensated. Industry's ideas and concepts
should be received by the S&T Office no later than 30 April 1996.
Responses should be directed to the Naval Air Warfare Center (Aircraft
Division), Science & Technology Office, Code 40000CR/MS70), ATTN: Mr.
David B. Bailey (Mgr, Technology Programs), Warminster, PA 18974-0591.
