COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 4,1996 PSA#1543Office of Naval Research, 800 North Quincy Street, Arlington, VA
22217-5660 A -- EVALUATION OF THE TARGETING AVIONICS SYSTEM (TAS) ON AN F/A-18 AI
RCRAFT POC L. McCullough, ONR 251 (703) 696-2601. The Office of Naval
Research intends to issue a sole source contract to McDonnell Douglas
Aerospace (MDA), for studies and analyses, design and fabrication of
installation accessories, analysis and definition of multiplex bus
interfaces, preparation of data to support flight certification and
conduct preliminary analysis for electromagnetic
interference/compatibility (EMI/EMC) for the integration of a modified
version of the Targeting Avionics System (TAS) configured pylon with
the F/A-18. MDA will provide some modified pylon hardware and will
conduct analysis efforts leading to flight certification. The TAS can
then operate properly when mounted on a Fleet F/A-18 aircraft. MDA is
the aircraft manufacturer and systems integrator for the F/A-18 and the
only source with knowledge of the aircraft and pylon design and of the
F/A-18 avionics system operation essential to the successful
installation and integration of the TAS into the aircraft weapon
system. See Numbered Note(s): 22. (0060) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0014 19960301\A-0014.SOL)
