S105 on (540) 653-7478. This is a Sources Sought Synopsis and no
Solicitation or Documentation Package currently exists. The Naval
Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division is proceeding with
acquisition planning for a future procurement of the PREDATOR, a short
range assault weapon. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS AND NO
SOLICITATION PACKAGE CURRENTLY EXISTS. The PREDATOR is currently in the
engineering and manufacturing development phase (EMD) with a projected
completion of 12/97. Loral Aeronutronics of Rancho Santa Margarita,
California is the EMD Contractor. The government may seek a full
production sole source contract with Loral Aeronutronic based on the
lack of response to this sources sought from other qualified sources.
The PREDATOR is a 140 mm missile housed in a disposable launcher
yielding a 20 lb man-portable system capable of defeating main battle
tanks. The PREDATOR missile consists of three modules, flight module,
warhead module and target detection device module. The flight module
contains a two pulse rocket motor and an inertial navigator. The
warhead module contains an explosively formed Penetrator warhead and
safe and arm device. The target detection device constitutes the third
module. The production is anticipated to have yearly requirements
during Fiscal Years (FY) 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, and 03. It is estimated
that approximately 21,000 Predator weapons will be procured during this
period with an initial procurement of approximately 300 weapons and
follow on quantities ramping-up to a full production rate of
approximately 5,100 weapons annually. Interested organizations are
invited to demonstrate their capabilities by providing the following
information by 27 March 1996: (1) Address specific expertise in the
development and or production of similar products, (2) Description of
industrial resources (facilities, equipment, tooling, and engineering
personnel experienced in transitioning systems from development to
production) available or planned to be available to support the stated
production requirements, and (3) Demonstration of experience by
providing contract number, type, value, award and completion dates,
point of contact and phone number. Please identify your submission as
