301-342-3310 11. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division
(NAWCAD), Patuxent River, Maryland, has a requirement to modernize a
walk-in temperature altitude chamber. The modernization shall consist
of replacing the refrigeration system, the motor control center system,
the controller/programmer system, the entire facility's wiring system,
with two (2) option periods for the replacement of the vacuum and
conditioned air (blast air) systems. The Contractor shall design,
manufacture, assemble, install and interface all of the aforementioned
systems. The chamber is used to subject aircraft generators and
constant speed drives to simulated flight conditions of temperature and
altitude. The chamber consists of a 343 cubic feet internal volume of
7'x7'x7' with an additional plenum area of 7'x7'x12'' in the rear of
the chamber. The refrigeration system shall operate between -73 degress
celsius to +120 degrees celsius. Temperature transients shall be
applicable between site altitude and 75,000 feet. The
controller/programmer system shall control chamber temperature,
altitude, blast-air temperature, and flow rate. The vacuum system shall
enable the chamber to achieve altitude equivalent pressures up to
100,000 feet or 65,000 feet with blast air entering the test article @
40lbs/minute. The blast air system shall supply air flow of 0 to
40lbs/minute @ 15 psig +/- 0.4lbs/minute. The entire system, including
each sub-system shall be capable of continuous and cyclic operation
over a period of not less than thirty (30) days without operator input
or maintenance requirements. Inspection and acceptance of the supplies
