70 -- SOURCES FOR COTS DATABASE PRODUCTS POC Bill Hamilton (703)-693-2140 The Defense Supply Service-Washington, on behalf of the Office of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (PA & E), is seeking sources for commercial off the shelf (COTS), object oriented and relational database management system (DBMS) products in support of the Joint Data Support Structure (JDSS) data warehousing project. The COTS software must meet the following functional requirements for consideration: the ability to support very large databases in excess of 500GB; the ability to operate seamlessly in a heterogeneous distributed client/server environment that includes UNIX servers and Microsoft clients; the ability to interoperate with a wide variety of middleware products (e.g. CORBA); the ability to support a variety of data types, including objects and relational tables; the ability to support a variety of 4GL and Visual Query tools; the database product must be in compliance with industry standards. e.g.; OMG, ANSI, IEEE, ISO.
