The Army is evaluating the feasibility of transferring ownership and operation of the natural gas distribution system and several associated gas fired boiler plants at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama to a private or municipal entity. The system is comprised of both a residential supply area with some 56,000 Linear Feet of distribution lines having an historical high monthly demand of 18,825,000 cubic feet and the industrial supply area with some 148,000 linear feet of distribution lines feeding some 49 independent boilers having a potential demand of 137,500,000 British Thermal Units. There are 12 independent boilers available for conversion having a potential demand of 25,640,000 British Thermal Units.
