available technology in the area of intrusion warning systems and
devices; to include sensors and ancillary equipment providing such
utilities as sensor integration and information display. The government
is only interested in systems and devices that are currently available,
or scheduled for introduction prior to February 1997. Technology of use
in perimeter security applications is of specific interest. This
information will be included in a compendium for use by law
enforcement, military and other governmental agencies, with a need for
it. Not all information provided will necessarily be included in this
compendium. Determination as to its suitability will be made based on
the government's judgement as to its responsiveness to the objectives
of this request. The purpose of this compendium is to provide users a
ready reference of available technology, with sufficient insight, into
the capabilities and limitations of the various systems and devices, to
enable them to select those which best meet their needs. This
compendium will be an unclassified document disseminated to federal,
state and local agencies. Information considered proprietary should not
be provided, as this compendium will be made available to users through
the INTERNET. Specific information sought includes: (1) a description
of the system or device -- size, weight, operating principals and
parameters to include limitations and number of personal required to
operate the system -- and its designated and potential applications;
(2) cost, to include purchase price and expected operation and
maintenance costs; (3) the system's or device's compatibility with
other intrusion warning technologies; (4) a listing of current users
or, in the case of technologies that have not yet been introduced into
the market, organizations that have placed orders for the system or
technology; (5) installation and support specifications and
requirements; and (6) the name and phone number/e-mail address of the
individual that the users should contact for more information on the
system or device. Diagrams, drawings and photographs that would assist
the user in understanding the system or device are requested. The
government prefers that information be provided by way of electronic
media, on 3-1/2'' or 5-1/4'' diskettes. Information received, after 60
days from the release of this request for information, may be included
in the initial edition of this compendium. This is not a solicitation.
No procurement action is contemplated to follow from this request for
