US Army CECOM, C4IEW Acquisition Center, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey 07703-5008

59 -- HF RADIO COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT POC Mr. Francis Gorman, (908) 532-0441. The Army is considering the acquisition of HF Radio Communications equipment within the next 6 - 12 months, depending upon availability of funds. To support this effort, the US Army CECOM Space & Terrestrial Communications Directorate (S&TCD), in a cooperative experiment with the Battle Command Battle Laboratory, Fort Gordon (BCBL-G), is conducting a market survey of manufacturers of HF communications equipment. The market survey is intended to determine the existance of commerical off the shelf (COTS) HF radio communications equipment which will pass voice and data at rates equal to or greater than 2400 BPS. The HF radios must be compliant with existing MIL Standards such as MIL STD 188-141A and MIL STD 188-110A. The ability to incorporate networking features which automates the process of communicating are desireable features. Networking protocals which would make the HF accessable to the Tactical Internet are considered highly desirable. Communications equipment which utilize wideband widths yielding data rates greater than 9.6 Cubs will receive consideration. The CECOM RDEC and BCBL-G are scheduling time slots at the Battle Lab test facility in Ft. Gordon which will allow manufactures to demonstrate the capabilities of their COTS hardware. US Army installations such as Ft. Benning and Ft. Steward will support hardware installations in order to evaluate skywave transmissions. The COTS technology provided by each manufacturer is scheduled for round the clock operation for a one week period of time. Results of the demonstrations at the test facilities at Ft. Gorden will be documented and form the basis of a Mission Need Statement. Responses to this market survey should be received by the Task Engineer not later than 30 calendar days after the appearance of this announcement. The Army will schedule and host the equipment demonstration. Manufacturers will demonstrate their technology at their own expense. The responses and requests for scheduling should be directed to US Army CECOM, ATTN: AMSEL-RD-ST-WL-AW, Ft. Monmouth, NJ 07703-5203. The Task Engineer is Francis Gorman, (908) 532-0441, FAX (908) 427-2150. (0065)
