The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division intends to procure on a full and open competition basis a quantity of one each, Opticam Type Optical Generator which includes accessories, data, software, installation, calibration, and training. This is a Opticam Type Optical Generator similar to that developed by the Center for Optics Manufacturing (COM). The optical generator shall be capable of the automatic generation of spherical lenses and similar shapes in glass and other optical materials. The optical generator shall include at least 5 adjustable axis, three of which are in the classical chordal generation configuration and under CNC Control The position feedback resolution shall be 1 micron or less for linear axis and 2.5 seconds or arc or less for rotary axis. The optical generator shall be capable, by the process of deterministic micro-grinding, of the automated production of pre-polished optical surfaces ready for final polishing without any intermediate fining processes. The generated surfaces shall meet: (a) less than 1/2 fringe irregularity at a wavelength of 0.633 micron over a 2 inch diameter optical glass test sample and (b) have a micro-roughness of less than 250 angstrons RMS. The optical generator shall have a specifically developed software interface that facilitates the programming of the mullti-axis CNC controller for the generation of optical surfaces and other optical features. A coolant system, tool changer, diamond grinding tools, and lens holders are also required. Requested delivery is 5 months after contract award.
