Research Laboratory has a requirement for a Software Site Facility
License and Maintenance Services for Multi-protocol networking system
supporting the TCP/IP family of protocols, the Xerox PUP protocol, and
the CHAOSnet protocol, Network File Server (NFS), and the NFS Client
Software. NRL requires a TCP/IP networking package that operates on
host computer running the UNIX, WINDOWS, and the VAX/VMS operating
systems (Version 5.0 or later with Symmetrical Multi-processing (SMP)
support) and supports all networking functions, operates in the kernel
and provides the following services and/or functions: 1) Operate with
VAX/VMS (Version 5.0 or later with SMP support), 2) Device driver
support for DEC Ethernet and X.25, Excelan Ethernet, Interlan NI1010
Ethernet, 3COM Ethernet, CMC ENP Ethernet, Pronet Token Ring, ACC LH-DH
and Arpanet and Ethernet, SLIP, and NCS Hyperchannel Interface, 3) Full
support for Domain Name Service (DNS), including Mail Exchanger (MX)
information and the DNS query program NSLOOKUP, 4) The following TCP/IP
application utilities - TELENET, FINGER, TFTP, SMTP, EGP, BOOTP, WHOIS,
TALK, FTP, RIP, NTP, Unix R Services (RLOGIN, RMT, RSHELL, REXEC), 5)
NFS Server Support (NFS client machines can mount VAX/VMS disks over
the network and vice versa), 6) NFS Client Software that permit VAX
machines running VMS to connect as clients to UNIX servers running NFS,
7) Remote line printer support to allow systems to share peripherals,
8) IP Routing and Encapsulation (DECnet over IP/IP over DECnet), 9)
Source code at least of the user application interface portion of the
package to aid users in trouble shooting efforts and to enable those
groups who wish to further customize their software. Site Licensing
must not be specific to a particular model of CPU. Software must be
licensed in a generic fashion so that it may run on all members of the
VAX and MicroVAX family. The period of performance is for five (5)
