extension 291 Provide materials and services necessary for the
Rehabilitation & Expansion of U. S. Coast Guard Station, Boothbay
Harbor, Maine. The work includes, but is not limited to construction of
temporary facilities, phased construction of an 820 square meter
addition, extensive demolition of a 700 squared meter existing
structure and it's complete reconstruction. This project has been
designed completely in metric units. All inspections will take place in
metric dimensions. Shop drawings must be submitted in metric units.
Product literature must be submitted with metric dimensions.
Supplements to existing product literature which contain metric
dimensions, even if developed on bond paper, will be accepted. A copy
of the GSA Metric Design Guide will be included with the
specifications. All work shall be accomplished in accordance with
Specification No. 01-004-92 and Drawing No. 01-004-92 (Sheets 1-56).
All work shall be completed within 365 calendar days after Notice to
Proceed. Plans (half-size), specifications, and all necessary bid
documents will be available 26 March 1996 and may be obtained by
submitting a check in the amount of $25.00 per set (non- refundable)
made payable to the U. S. Coast Guard. To receive a solicitation and be
placed on the bidders list, interested parties must submit a written
request. Telephone inquiries will not be honored. Bid opening for
Solicitation No. DTCG47-96-B- 3EFK07 is 25 April 1996 at 2:00 p.m. in
Norfolk, VA. Estimated construction cost is between $1,000,000.00 and
$5,000,000.00. The solicitation is unrestricted IAW the Small Business
Competitiveness Demonstration Program. For Minority, Women-owned and
Disadvantage Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation
(DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU),
has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged
business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding
assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to
any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding
Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and
payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80
percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans
are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at
prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The
maximum line of credit is $500,000.00. For further information and
