COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 8,1996 PSA#1547Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, Office of
Acquisition and Federal Assistance, Mail Stop 205A, Room 6A331, 12201
Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA 22092 T -- ACQUISITION OF CARTOGRAPHIC DATA SOL 8080 DUE 041596 POC Brenda
Croston (contact), Nedra Stallone (CO), (703) 648-7364 Program
Announcement to obtain Digital Line Graphs (DLG), Digital Elevation
Models (DEM), and Digital Orthophotoquads (DOQ) and other similar data
files captured from or registered to USGS primary series topographic
maps for entry into public-domain digital geospatial data bases as part
of the public domain. This is a reannouncement of Program Announcement
8080, which remains open until July 31, 1997. The next application due
date is April 15, 1996. Applications received after that date will be
reviewed at the next applications due date. This reannouncement
specifically notes that the proposals for DRG data will no longer be
entertained; DRG data resources are under agreement for the whole of
the nation. Acceptable data will meet the requirements for content,
accuracy, and format as detailed in USGS National Mapping Program
Technical Instructions: Standards for Digital Line Graphs; Standards
for Digital Elevation Models; and Standards for Digital Orthophotos.
This announcement does not solicit contractor support for specific USGS
digital mapping requirements, nor does it encourage speculative
ventures by any potential cooperator. The intent is to identify
accurate primary digital map data being prepared by non-Federal
organizations in areas of the United States now lacking DLG, DEM, or
DOQ coverage, and to obtain technically acceptable data through
cooperative agreements. When it is in the Government's interest, and
subject to the availability of appropriated funds, the USGS will assist
qualified organizations in preparing digital map data to USGS
standards, and will also evaluate existing cartographic data compatible
with USGS technical standards. All data obtained under this initiative
will be archived and distributed as part of the public domain.
Requests for Program Announcement 8080 shall be in writing, and may
also be made by facsimile to (703) 648-7901 (telephone confirmation is
recommended). In addition, the digital portion of the Program
Announcement can be downloaded via internet anonymous FTP from
