0119-96. The U.S. Army seeks prospective sources to submit technical
concepts for gathering meteorological data for use by the Multiple
Launch Rocket System (MLRS). Measurements must be taken in the course
of a fire mission and not require any operator involvement in the
process. The concepts/devices must provide launch area wind speed and
wind direction at 100 meters (+/- 20 meters) above the launcher. The
concepts/devices must be capable of measuring wind speed down to 2
meters/second with an accuracy of +/- 1 meter/ second. The time
required to gather the data is limited to 10 seconds. Depending on the
implementation, the device may be directly exposed to the
environmental effects of rocket blast. Responses must be less than 15
pages and be delivered not later than 12 April 1996. The MLRS prime
contractor, Loral Vought Systems, will assist in the review of the
responses. (0067) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0255 19960308\38-0001.SOL)
