project consists of new construction of a 21,000 square foot postal
facility known as Westside Station, Lafayette, Louisiana, which will
include concrete foundation, steel frame, steel deck, built-up roof,
brick veneer, concrete paving, tile floor, millwork, lay-in ceilings,
and paint. The site is located at Bank Street, Bertrand Drive and
Toledo in Lafayette. Estimated cost range: $1,900,000 - $2,000,000 and
construction time is 270 calendar days. Successful offeror must submit
their Subcontracting Plan for Small and Minority-Owned, and Woman-Owned
Business initially and thereafter with their progress payment requests.
The contract must subcontract with minority business firms in an amount
aggregating not less than 10% of the total value of its subcontracts.
A 20% proposal bond is required on all proposals. The successful
contractor will be required to provide 100% Performance and 50% Payment
Bonds. Offers will be received in this office, prior to, but not later
than 3:30 p.m. on April 9, 1996. Proposal documents, plans and
specifications will be available on March 8, 1996, at a cost of $110.00
per set (non-refundable) payable by check or money order only. Requests
for packages shall be forwarded to Chenevert-Songy-Rodi-Soderberg,

504/769-0546. Checks or money orders must be made payable to
Chenevert-Songy-Rodi-Soderberg. Since this is a request for proposals,
offers will not be publicly opened. The number of offers received, the
identity of the offerors, the amount of any one offer, or relative
standing of offeror will not be disclosed to anyone until after award
of a contract is made and the request is submitted in writing. Plans
may be inspected at the issuing office and any questions and/or
information regarding this solicitation may be obtained by calling
Mary-Ellen Bothwell at 214/819-7217. Offerors MUST submit their
proposal by one of the methods offered by the U.S. Postal Service
(First Class, Priority Mail, or Express Mail) or it will be returned.
