It will transport up to 6 persons and haul the equipment required to support a helicopter operation such as: cargo nets, portable water tanks and personnel flight gear. It will be equipped with a power generator to support radios, area lighting and other equipment for flight operation control. The Helitender will operate on unimproved mountain roads which will subject the unit to abnormal stresses, vibration and other operational hazards as well as on interstate highway. The Helitender is comprised of a 19,000 to 23,000 GVWR Government furnished truck chassis with a special utility body that is equipped with a superstructure, rear opening doors, and a crew compartment.
