Inertial Reference Unit (IRU) RFO5-58073/506 -- This is a solicitation for information and planning purposes. The NASA Goddard Space Flight Center intends to make available a preliminary Request for Offer package which includes the model Contract, preliminary Statement of Work, and Specification. The objective of this release is to allow industry the opportunity to review the new Midrange Procurement procedures, to verify the reasonableness and feasibility of the requirement, as well as to promote competition. Prospective offerors are invited to submit comments regarding the new procurement procedures and any possible improvements to the SOW or more effective approaches to the Government's requirements. This presolicitation notice is for informational planning purposes only. It does not constitute a Request for Offer and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to enter into a contract. This procurement is subject to revision or cancellation at any time. The preliminary documents described in this notice constitute all information concerning the IRU procurement that will be furnished at this time. Industry is requested to submit their comments and suggestions on the preliminary documents by March 22, 1996. Hard copies are available on request, but the closing date will be the same as the request for the electronically released solicitation. Firms interested in obtaining a hardcopy of this preliminary Request for Offer must submit a request, in writing to Joan W. Tomasello, Code 214.4, GSFC, Greenbelt, Maryland 20771. Potential offerors will be responsible for downloading their own copy of the solicitation. The anticipated release date for the official solicitation is in April 1996.
