The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, CA intends to procure, on an other than full and open competition basis, depot level retrofits, failure analyses, repairs and modifications for the Phoenix AIM-54C missiles and components. Proposals shall be sought from Hughes Missile System Company and Raytheon Company only because they are the only two mobilization base producers of the Phoenix AIM-54C quidance and control sections and the only two contractors who have the necessary government owned specialized test equipment and trained personnel capable of quickly and efficiently repairing these missiles and returning them to the fleet inventory. The contract period of performance will be one year from date of award with two one-year options.
