CONFERENCE NOTICE, 20TH ARMY SCIENCE CONFERENCE, 24-27 JUNE 1996, NORFOLK WATERSIDE MARRIOTT AND CONVENTION CENTER, NORFOLK, VIRGINIA. The 20th Army Science Conference will be held at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott and Convention Center, Norfolk, Virginia, 24-27 June 1996. The Biennial conference was inaugurated in 1957 to provide a forum for presentation, discussion, and recognition of significant accomplishments by U.S. Army scientists and engineers in their efforts to support the combat soldier of tomorrow. The four-day meeting will feature the presentation of 160 papers which will focus on key emerging technologies, including systemic issues and support capabilities. In addition, there will be a number of Keynote and special event addresses by Government officials and leaders from academia and industry that will set the tone of the meeting and introduce the various sessions. We expect over 500 attendees from U.S. Army Laboratories, other DoD and Federal agencies, academia and private industry. This will be the third time that the Army Science Conference has been open to public and private sectors. This setting will encourage face-to-face discussions between presenters and conference attendees. Attendance at the 20th Army Science Conference will be beneficial to both management and technical personnel from industry, universities, and Government who have an interest in the application of new scientific and engineering technologies. The Conference promises to strengthen the industry/Government and university/Government partnership and help pave the way to future successes in U.S. Army R&D programs. Planned Sessions for the 20th Army Science Conference include: Advanced Materials and Manufacturing; Microelectronics and Photonics; Sensors and Information Processing; High-Performance Computing and Simulation; Advanced Propulsion Technologies and Power Generation; Biological, Chemical and Nuclear Defense; Life, Medical and Behavioral Sciences; Environmental Sciences and Geosciences; and Engineering Sciences.
