36 -- COMPUTER LINE PATTERN AND ENGRAVING SYSTEM Contact Cindy Duncan, Contract Specialist, 202-874-2539. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is interested in obtaining information on a commercially available Computer Line Pattern and Engraving System. The purpose of this system is to automate the design and intaglio line work images and security pattern features for U.S. currency and other security documents. This system must allow designers to create and produce complex, high resolution security line patterns such as geometric lathe (Guilloche), medallion rulings and micro lettering patterns. This system must produce, manipulate, output and store sophisticated, intricate patterns and rulings. This system must be able to combine existing intaglio line images and/or continuous tone images with new design elements for a complete product model. It must provide monocolor or multicolor separations suitable for intaglio and offset litho pre-press manufacturing processes. It must also accept import of image information from a Mac-based electronic pre-press system. The BEP intends to utilize the streamlined acquisition procedures of FAR Part 12 to acquire this system. Interested parties are encouraged to provide the following data relating to this product: 1) product literature describing the hardware and software functional capabilities, to include a description of input and output capabilities; 2) a description of how an existing system could be customized for use by the BEP for security purposes; 3) a description of any product warranty; 4) a description of after-sale support; 5) delivery terms; 6) a description of your quality assurance program in place including a description of existing final test and check out procedures; and 7) any information relative to equipment installation site similar to the BEP. Interested parties are requested to indicate whether an existing system is available for demonstration. The requested information should be forwarded to the Contracting Officer, Currency Contracts Division, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, 14th & C Streets, S.W., Washington, DC 22028 on or before thirty (30) days after publication of this notice.
