Office, 255 East Paces Ferry Road, N.E., Room No. 419 Atlanta, Georgia
30305 D -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION REGARDING FAX GATEWAY SOFTWARE DUE 041596
POC Contact Christine Dauer at (404)842-6553 The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease
Registry (CDC), headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is interested in
pursuing a standard FAX gateway software system that interfaces with
Microsoft PC Mail version 3.5 and Microsoft Exchange to be used
throughout its locations. CDC is seeking detailed information
concerning off-the-shelf FAX gateway software systems. To be useful to
CDC, products should support, or be compatible with MS Windows 3.1,
Windows 95, MS DOS 6.2, Novell Netware 3.11, and MS Mail 3.2 and later
versions of each. Products must communicate effectively on Token Ring
Novell Network via IPX/SPX protocol, IP protocol, or DOS redirection
and usable across a WAN environment. CDC currently has a number of fax
gateways which interface with Microsoft Mail, fax gateways which
interface with Windows applications, and stand alone fax machines. This
software package would be used at CDC for the reception and
transmission of fax items for Government business only. In addition to
the compatibility issues, the system will need to provide automated
reception of incoming faxes, direct delivery to the proper Microsoft
Mail mailbox, full logging of received and transmitted faxes, printing
of incoming faxes to network printers, addressing to unlimited number
of recipients. Notification of fax delivery to the sender is desired
but not mandatory. The FAX gateway should also allow for the reception,
transmission and conversion of the following file formats: ASCII text,
DCX and PCX image files, and versions of WordPerfect DOS and Windows
5.x and above. The software must also be supported and accessible under
the Microsoft Mail Windows and DOS clients. Respondent should provide
detailed software capabilities, documentation, user references, and
references from current clients. Please note that this is a request for
information only, and that no solicitation document for such a system
exists at this time. CDC may, however, use information contained from
this request, when structuring solicitation documents in the future.
NOTE: No solicitation document exists at this time. Interested parties
may send information to Christine Dauer, Contract Specialist at the
address above. Do not Fax information. (0072) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0035 19960313\D-0007.SOL)
