National Science Foundation is soliciting sealed bids for the
acquisition of 215 computing systems to be awarded to the 1994
Presidential Awardees for Excellence in Science and Mathematics
Teaching. The computing systems shall be acquired per the following
specification: (1) minimum 75 Mhz Pentium Central Processing Unit; (2)
minimum 8 Megabytes Random Access Memory; (3) minimum 800 Megabytes
capacity internal hard disk drive; (4) minimum quad-speed internal
CD-ROM with sound card and stereo speakers; (5) minimum internal 14,400
baud fax/data modem; (6) minimum 14 inch multiscan color monitor with
.28mm dot-pitch or better; (7) minimum one 3.5 inch high density floppy
disk drive; (8) keyboard and mouse; (9) Microsoft Windows 95 operating
system (installed) with manuals; and (10) office suite with manuals
(either magnetic media or CD-ROM) with the following capabilities --
word-processing, spreadsheet, database, communications (including fax,
CD-ROM and Internet capabilities), personal publishing (drawing and
painting), and dictionary. The invitation will be released
approximately 15 calendar days following publication of this notice
(i.e., on or about March 25, 1996). Bids will be due approximately 30
calendar days following release of the invitation (i.e., on or about
April 25, 1996). Bid opening will be held the next working day at 2 pm
local time in Room 475 of the National Science Foundation facility
located at 4201 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA. Contract award is
anticipated approximately 21 calendar days following the bid opening
(i.e., on or about May 16, 1996). Delivery of all systems is required
120 calendar days following contract award. Only written requests for
