The project consists of furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for the installation of an Energy Management and Control System (EMCS) for the U. S. Postal Service Main Post Office (general mail facility). The EMCS is to provide monitoring and control functions for HVAC systems in both the 2-story Mail Handling Facility and for the adjunct 14-story office tower. The EMCS will not serve the Loyola Street Parking Garage. In addition to the HVAC system monitoring and control, the EMCS shall control lighting in the Tower Building and shall monitor electrical power usage of the Tower Building and of the Mail Handling Facility. This project also includes repairs to the 60,000 cfm air handling unit which preconditions outdoor air for the Tower Building. The outdoor air unit is located in the Tower Building penthouse. The estimated cost range is between $710,000 and $750,000, with a construction completion date of 240 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed.
