Room 4410, Washington, DC 20590 A -- TIRE PAVEMENT INTERFACE PRESSURE PATTERNS SOL DTFH61-96-R-00053
DUE 042696 POC Behrooz Behpoory, Contract negotiator, 202-366-4224. The
objective of this contract is to measure in three-dimensions the forces
and stresses and develop tire pressure patterns from rolling and fixed
position dynamic load tests ( in field and laboratory) of various type
of tires under different operating conditions. The effort herein should
be followed by developing a predictive mathematical model, which is
able to relate all these variables to each other in order to form data
source for a finite element tire simulation models. Neural network
systems, or equivalents, techniques can be used for this purpose. The
linked pressure distribution algorithm and tire model will be used for
pavement design and truck simulation models. The Contractor shall form
a research team of experts in truck tires with extensive knowledge of
tire structure, design and testing and able to provide analysts,
statisticians, mathematicians, scientist, engineers and use the best
available technicians to conduct rolling and fixed position dynamic
loading tests, to measure footprints and footprint pressure
distributions for use in the formulation of algorithms representing
these characteristics for use in VESYS, UMPAD, ILLISLAB, and Superpave.
