The purpose of this synopsis is to notify small businesses of potential subcontracting opportunities. The F-16 Systems Program Office (SPO), Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), is planning to contract for six AN/APG-68 radar systems. The Air Force is anticipating an award of a contract modification in the third quarter of FY96 to Westinghouse Electric Company, Baltimore, MD. Westinghouse Electric Company is the development and production contractor for the APG-68 radars for the F-16 aircraft. The contract modification will be issued under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The expected period of performance will be Oct 96 through Mar 99. Westinghouse will produce the APG-68 radars which include Programmable Signal Processors, Mod Low Power Radio Frequency LRU, Dual Mod Transmitter LRU, Antenna and Rack. An Ombudsman has been established for this acquisition. The only purpose of the Ombudsman is to receive and communicate serious concerns from potential offerors when an offeror prefers not to use established channels to communicate his/her concern during the proposal development phase of this acquisition. Potential offerors should use established channels to request information, pose questions, and voice concerns before resorting to use of the Ombudsman.
