The NIH, Clinical Center, intends to negotiate with Priority One Services, Alexander, VA. On a sole source basis in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 as authorized by 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1). This is for an increase in the contract level of effort for services that are currently being performed under existing Contract No. 263-93-D-0051. The contractor shall continue to provide the NIH, Clinical Center with Passenger Services. In addition, the NIH Clinical Center has a requirement for two additional drivers and the use of contractor vehicles to transport patients to and from the Clinical Center to other hospitals, nursing homes, and/or their residences. The requirement is necessary to replace the services losts when two government employee motor vehicle operators retired. The level of effort provided under the subject contract must be increased to meet this task. The current contract expires in September 1996. Postponement of these services until a new contract is awarded would result in unacceptable delays to the Government. See Note 22. See Numbered Note(s): 22. (0078)
