Americas, the facility contractor for Facility One (Formerly Indiana
Army Ammunition Plant) in Charlestown, Indiana offers over 500,000
square feet of warehouse space for commercial use. The warehouse space
consists of a number of different size facilities; including 3,000 and
10,500 and 22,500 square foot buildings. The buildings have road and
rail docks. Several have sprinkler protection. Office space, restrooms,
and HVAC systems can be incorporated as required. With 10,000 rolling
acres along the scenic Ohio River, this southern Indiana facility is no
ordinary industrial site. Located just 8 miles northeast of Louisville,
KY, Facility One is within 500 miles of over half of the country's
major metropolitan areas and 60% of the nation's population and
production capacity. Facility One's proximity to a variety of domestic
markets is very attractive through an unmatched transportation system
and distribution network. Three major interstate highways are readily
accessible: Interstate 64 runs east-west connecting St. Louis and
Norfolk; Interstate 65 connects Chicago and Mobile; Interstate 71
travels north to Cleveland where it accesses three primary Interstates
serving the northeast; and Interstate 75 is approximately 90 minutes
east via I-64. Ample rail service runs throughout the facility
providing immediate access to the five Class 1 railroad companies and
to principal markets and industrial centers of the nation. Handling
more barge tonnage annually than the Panama Canal, and Ohio River
provides excellent water transportation via the inland waterways of the
US. With the Clark Maritime Center located just three miles south the
plant and connected by both highway and rail, Facility One businesses
have access to the nation's most active river transportation system.
Maintaining Foreign Trade Zone status, with incentives for importers or
exporters of raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods, the
Center offers a 450 ton heavy lift capacity and can handle the heaviest
of jobs as well as the smallest. The world's largest package deliverer,
United Parcel Service, operates its national sorting hub at Louisville
International Airport at Standiford Field with over 100 planes
arriving and departing daily. Currently in the midst of a $400 million
expansion. Standiford Field is adding two new parallel run-ways to
significantly increase its capacity. Clark County Airport, in Southern
Indiana, and near Facility One, serves as a reliever airport for
Standiford Field and is part of the Clark County Foreign Trade Zone.
ICI Americas invites interested firms to call or write to obtain
