16 -- PREDATOR UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE ACTD KU SATCOM SYSTEMS POC Contact, LCDR Don Hertig, Phone (703)604-0903 The Naval Air System Commands intends to negotiate a contract with Loral Communication Systems, Salt Lake City, UT (formerly Unisys Corporation, Government System Group) for three (3) Predator Medium Altitude Endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (MAE UAV) Ku-band Satellite Communication (SATCOM) ground data terminals, nine (9) satellite air data terminals, spares, and associated support equipment in support of the Predator Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration program. Loral Communication Systems is the developer and sole supplier of the Predator MAE UAV Ku-band satellite communication equipment, and as such, is the only source with the technical expertise and data required to meet the Governemnt's needs in the required time frame. The statutory authority for this procurement is Title 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source. See note No. 22 - NAVAIR Synopsis No. 40028-96. (0079)
