Specialist, at (407)380-4037 Training Device. The U.S. Army Simulation,
Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) is conducting a market
survey for the requirement to procure a Gunnery Trainer (GT) to prepare
gunners in preparatory marksmanship, reinforcement, concurrent and
sustainment training for the MK-19 Grenade Machine Gun (GMG). The
Trainer will be required to provide basic gunnery skills in engaging
single and multiple targets, free gun engagement and in the use of the
MK-19 GMG traversing and elevating mechanism. The GT will be required
to be a modular design allowing for installation, operation, repair
and storage in existing facilities such as classrooms, billet areas and
aboard ship. The device will be required to be used by all active and
reserve component units that are equipped with the MK-19 GMG. The
trainer will be required to portray realistic threat targets,the
casualty-producing effects of the GMG and to operate in conjunction
with service MK-19 weapon systems without permanent modifications to
the weapon. The current requirement for this procurement is expected to
be 200 trainers. Potential offerors are invited to submit information
pertinent and specific to this acquisition including, but not limited
to experience, work previously performed or currently in progress and
existing products. Interested firms are requested to respond to this
presolicitation notice in writing not later than thirty days from the
publication date of this notice. Include in your response the size and
status of your business. Firms should also indicate whether their
interest is as a prime or as a subcontractor. Potential offerors are
advised that the Government reserves the right to set aside this
acquisition for small business or offer it for competition under the
8(a) program. For this proposed acquisition, the SIC code is 3699 and
the related small business size stand is 750 employees. The performance
specification, work statement and proposal submission requirements will
be posted to the STRICOM Industry Academia (SIA) Electronic Bulletin
Board for review by interested parties as it is developed. Comments
from industry will be solicited as the request for proposal is posted
to the bulletin board and will be considered in preparation of the
final package. No draft request for proposal is anticipated to be
published. STRICOM anticipates that the GT Request for Proposal will be
released May 1996. Contract award is anticipated to be in December
1996. The information contained herein as well as information published
