84 -- BALLISTIC AND LASER PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR - MARKET SURVEY SOL W33BSV-6068-1002 POC Contracting Officer SANDRA MACK (706) 545-2219 (Site Code DABT10) The Directorate of Combat Development is conducting a market survey to identify firms with the capability to provide laser eye protection to mounted and dismounted soldiers. The U.S. Army needs protection at as many different wavelengths as possible with a high optical density. The current protective systems are using dye technology which is incorporated into polycarbonate lenses. We are looking for additional technologies that will provide laser protection. We are also concerned about the ballistic protection that we need. We would like to get information about developments which use technology that we have not been considering until now such as the following: liquid crystals, electronic shutters, or indirect viewing equipment. Firms with helpful information should submit descriptive literature including any illustrations, performance data, and approximate cost of the technology to: Commander, U.S. Army Infantry Center, ATTN: ATZB-CDC (1LT Sailors), Fort Benning, GA 31905-5000, within 30 days after publication of this notice.
