Experimental Diving Unit requires five to fifteen commercially
available dive computers which are modified to use the U.S. Navy closed
circuit exponential-linear 0.7 02 Atmosphere's Absolute (ATA) in
nitrogen decompression algorithm published in the Navy Experimental
Diving Unit Report No 1-84 (this is not the probabilistic Navy
algorithm). Dive computer must be accompanied with download software
and hardware to interface with a IBM personal computer compatible or
clone microcomputer and able to connect with either a standard RS-232
or parallel port of the personal computer. The dive computer must be
able to log depth every two seconds or whenever there is a depth change
of 2 feet sea water. The dive computer must be able to log a ten hour
dive under the conditions that the diver is changing depth 2 feet sea
water every two seconds. Specifications for dive computer hardware and
software will be stated in the solicitation. Dive computers are to be
tested and evaluated for possible inclusion into the ``Authorized for
