The RBATSON is Ground Operating Equipment (GOE) that is designated KI-34. It consists of a Key Generator/Data Processing Assembly digital chassis (KIG-34), and a Frequency Generator/Radio Frequency (RF) Transmission Assembly RF chassis (KIT-34). Maintenance Test Equipment (MTE) for the KI-34 RBATSON and the interfacing KI-31 Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) of the BATSON II is designated the KT-43. The KI-34 RBATSON is to replace the KI-32 BATSON II GOE, that is used in the Satellite Configuration Control Element (SCCE). There are three versions of the SCCE. These are the Contingency (CSCCE) version, the Production (PSCCE) version and the Replacement (RSCCE) version. The RBATSON will provide Cryptographic protection of the command and telemetry signals between the SCCEs and the Defense Sattelite Communications System (DSCS) satellites. The RBATSON will provide only the BATSON II features which are currently used for the DSCS III satellite operation.
