The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) intends to procure an instrumented mechanical properties microprobe (MPM). It will be used principally as an instrumented indenter (known as a nanoindenter, an instrument nanoindenter, ultra-microindenter, and a continuous indention tester) to determine hardness, elastic modulus, elastic and plastic work, stress strain curves, fracture toughness and creep rates. The MPM must be fully computerized: all testing and data acquisition procedures must be programmable, test must be able to run without human intervention, and data analysis and reduction must be able to run without human intervention, and data analysis and reduction must be handled by the software. Basic items are required and some optional items are needed in this requirement. Additional requirements will be provided in the solicitation.
