COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 25,1996 PSA#1558Commander, Naval Air Systems Command (Code 2.0), 1421 Jefferson Davis
Hwy, Arlington, Va 22243-5120 17 -- TACTICAL LANDING SYSTEM POC Contact, David Hecht, Phone
(703)604-2968 The Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate with
Advanced Navigation & Positioning Corporation, Hood River Oregon to
demonstrate the capability and military utility of a fully
transportable Tactical Landing System (TLS) prototype that will provide
an all-weather precision Category I approach capability. The TLS is a
fully developed, commercial system, that is capable of guiding aircraft
using existing on-board ILS avionics for arbitrary approach paths,
including steep descent angles and curved approaches to a safe landing
in all-weather conditions. The system also displays aircraft position
to ground controllers thereby providing a PAR/GCA capability for
aircraft equipped with only an IFF transponder. By using existing ILS
avionics in conjunction with a PAR/GCA capability, the TLS provides
multiservice compatiblity. All approaches are recorded by the system
for post-flight documentation and analysis. Advanced Navigation &
Positioning Corporation is the sole supplier/manufacturer of the TLS.
