66 -- WAVELENGTH TUNABLE CONTINUOUS WAVE CARBON DIOXIDE LASER SOL 8-W-6-10-89685 POC Contract Specialist: Patsy Hoffman, (205) 544-7040, Contract Officer: Jane Maples NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a wavelength tunable continuous wave carbon dioxide laser -- NASA/MSFC intends to purchase from Laser Systems Devices Inc. the following items: (1) CW CO2 laser; p/n CO-210; power: 120 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase; 20 watt in TEM00 on all lines; standard gas mixture C(12) O2(16); linear polarization, vertical (direction: up and down); with grating accessory tunable through the various vibrational- rotational transitions of the CO2 molecule (9.1 - 11.4 micrometer); composite graphite resonator stabilization; switch mode power supply and cabling; mechanical and acoustical passive stabilization; sealed laser and discharge tube; size: no more than 32'' long by 5.5'' wide by 5'' high; laser beam exit at 6.5 cm height from bottom (hole placement will be in RFQ); discharge excited, not RF excited; laser beam output diameter approximately 5mm; quantity 1 each; (2) grating tuner; p/n GT-101; quantity 1 each; (3) computer controlled micrometer screw with encoded motor, computer card, and software; p/n CCM-102; quantity 1 each -- This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT) portion of the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA) -- Note: This procurement is sole-source based on system compatability requirements -- Interested firms have 15 days from the publication date of this synopsis to submit in writing their qualifications/capabilities in the critical areas mentioned above -- Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis -- Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered -- A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract, on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government -- See Numbered Note 22 -- Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice -- Responses must be submitted in writing -- Transmission by facsimile to 205-544-9080 or by Internet e-mail to patsy.hoffman@msfc.nasa.gov is acceptable -- The solicitation and any related documents to this procurement will be available over the Internet -- These documents will be in ASCII format and reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using client browsers, such as, MOSAIC -- The WWW address, or URL, of the MSFC Procurement home page is: (0082)
