A -- RESEARCH AND SERVICE ASSISTANCE AT THE NIST LOW BACKGROUND INFRARED RADIOMETRY (LBIR) FACILITY SOL 6C9085 DUE 041896 POC Diane Loeb (301) 975-6399 The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) intends to procure the research and service assistance at the Low Background Infrared Radiometry (LBIR) Facility under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The LBIR is a research facility to perform radiometric measurements and calibrations of infrared sources and detectors. The tasks to be performed are as follows: (A) Spectral calibration of blocked-impurity conduction-band infrared detectors. Integration of the cryogenic-vacuum hardware for detector manipulation within the LBIR chambers. (B) Design and construction of an apparatus to carry-out cryogenic-vacuum measurements of low emissivity material samples such as sapphire. (C) Maintenance and operation of LBIR high vacuum and cryogenic systems. Deliverables include quarterly reports, co-author publications with NIST Staff; and participates at conferences identified by NIST. Interested offerors shall attend a mandatory on-site inspection of the LBIR Facility's cryogenic and vacuum appartus in order to allow gathering of detailed on-site information. Offerors shall provide resume(s) of personnel to be conducting the necessary research and service assistance. Minimum qualifications are identified in the quotation package.
