Matherny, 818/395-3186. The California Institute of Technology plans to
award a construction contract in support of the Laser Interferometer
Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) for a five building complex and
infrastructure to support the complex. The complex is located on the
Hanford DOE reservation near Richland, Washington. No clearance is
necessary to reach the complex. All the buildings are of steel framing
and steel/foam sandwich panel walls. The buildings will be on concrete
foundation and concrete slab on grade floors. One building is 57,000
square feet and the other four are identical at 8000 square feet each.
The buildings generally have 32 foot ceilings and are equipped with
five ton cranes. The cost estimate for the contract package is $14M to
$17M. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) package will be available on or
about April 20, 1996. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for May 2, 1996 at
the Tower Inn in Richland, Washington. Bids will be due June 4, 1996 at
2:00 PM at the Tower Inn in Richland, WA. If a bid package is desired,
