U.S. Army industrial Operations command is inter-ested in obtaining
information pertaining to Commercial practices in-volved in service
contracts for the consolidation, volume reduction, and services related
to the disposal of low-level radioactive wastematerials. The command
has historically utilized the required serv-ices for approximately
fifty ''small'' (average 10 cubic feet) and Ten ''large'' (average 400
cubic feet) shipments per year. The waste primarily consists of
manufactured instruments and articles, con-taminated trash and debris,
and sealed sources. Some waste is pro-cessed, E.G., compacted Ash from
incineration or slag from metalmelting.The waste may consist of any
radioactive material, except special nuclear material, to include
source material, and may be segregated as 50% non-compactables, 45%
compactables, and 5% other. The command is most interested in
determining the Commercial norms for contract terms, performance
periods, and the application offirm-fixed pricing. In regards to
firm-fixed pricing, the command would like to determine for what time
period firms in the industry are able to establish fixed rates for the
required services. In-terested and capable firms are invited to
