The Naval Command, Control and Ocean Surveillance Center, Research, Development, Testing & Evaluation Division (NRaD) seeks to identify companies with capabilities in the area of the fabrication of rapidly tunable infrared filters for spectral imaging. The purpose of this notice is to identify companies of NRaD's intent of establishing a sourcing database for any possible requirements in the near future. NRaD seeks to identify companies demonstrating the capability of fabricating state-of-the-art filters with the following goals: 1.1) Tuning range of 8 to 12 microns; 1.2) Scan time over the tuning range of 20 microseconds or less; 1.3) Bandwidth of 0.1 microns, or less; 1.4) Field of view of at least 8 degrees; 1.5) Resolution of less than 0.24 degrees; 1.6) Transmission of at least 20%; 1,7) Beam diameter of at least 30 millimeters. Respondents should demonstrate expertise in the following areas: 2.1) Input electrical power and frequencies required; 2.2) Operating temperature range (room temperature, cryogenic temperatures, etc.); 2.3) Power dissipation and temperature rise; 2.4) Rejection of out-of-band signal; 2.5) Separation of filtered from unfiltered radiation; 2.6) Polarization shifts; 2.7) Transmission uniformity. Interested parties should submit with a description of qualifications with respect to the foregoing. Responses should be limited to 10 pages of written text. There is not page limit for brochures, publications, resumes and other attachments. Responses are required on or before 7/1/96.
