70 -- HIGH SPEED PROCESSOR 4 (HSP-4)COMPUTER SYSTEM SOL RFI2-36612(LMV) DUE 050796 POC Contracting Officer: Lupe M. Velasquez, (415)604-4522, Fax: (415)604-4377 This is a Request for Information(RFI), not a Request for Offers (RFO). High Speed Processor 4 (HSP-4) computer system. HSP-4 will be used principally for the simulation of vehicles in flight drawn from the disciplines of fluid dynamics, chemistry, structures, propulsion, controls and others. HSP-4 will be the primary com putation resource for the Numerical Aerodynamic Simulation (NAS) Program at NASA Research Center. The HSP-4 system will be delivered in two (2) phases. The first phase will be a computing system with a sustained performance rate in the 15 to 30 GFlop/s range on a computational workload; a central memory capacity in excess of 6 billion 64-bit words; storage in excess of 1.6 TB; network connections; and operating software, including applications development software. The second phase will have a sustained performance in the 60 to 120 GFlop/s range with additional memory and disk. The second phase will be required within 3-1/2 years of contract award. Also included will be hardware and software maintenance, system and application analyst support, documenta tion and training. The system will be acquired through one of the following mechanisms: lease to ownership, lease with option to purchase, straight lease or straight purchase. The expected issue date for solicitation RFI2-36612(LMV) is 4/8/96. The expected return date for an information response is 5/7/96.
