RFI2-36612(LMV) DUE 050796 POC Contracting Officer: Lupe M. Velasquez,
(415)604-4522, Fax: (415)604-4377 This is a Request for
Information(RFI), not a Request for Offers (RFO). High Speed Processor
4 (HSP-4) computer system. HSP-4 will be used principally for the
simulation of vehicles in flight drawn from the disciplines of fluid
dynamics, chemistry, structures, propulsion, controls and others. HSP-4
will be the primary com putation resource for the Numerical Aerodynamic
Simulation (NAS) Program at NASA Research Center. The HSP-4 system will
be delivered in two (2) phases. The first phase will be a computing
system with a sustained performance rate in the 15 to 30 GFlop/s range
on a computational workload; a central memory capacity in excess of 6
billion 64-bit words; storage in excess of 1.6 TB; network
connections; and operating software, including applications development
software. The second phase will have a sustained performance in the 60
to 120 GFlop/s range with additional memory and disk. The second phase
will be required within 3-1/2 years of contract award. Also included
will be hardware and software maintenance, system and application
analyst support, documenta tion and training. The system will be
acquired through one of the following mechanisms: lease to ownership,
lease with option to purchase, straight lease or straight purchase. The
