A -- PRECLINCIAL EVALUATION OF THERAPIES FOR CRYPTOSPORIDIUM PARVUM INFECTION SOL RFP-NIH-NIAID-97-05 DUE 081596 POC Bruce E. Anderson, Contracting Officer (301) 496-8371. The NIH, NIAID, DAIDS, has a requirement to quantitatively evaluate therapeutic agents for efficacy against Cryptosporidium parvum infection in a standarized, validated immunocompromised mouse model test system. In vivo studies will include evaluation of therapies in combination in the primary mouse model; evaluation of therapies in a validated, standardized animal model for hepatobiliary disease; and evaluation of therapies using alternative strains of Cryptosporidium. Therapeutic agents will be evaluated for efficacy in a standardized, reproducible, and validated in vitro test system using intact organisms. The offeror should have available a primary mouse model of Cryptosporidium infection and an in vitro system (including relevant Cryptosporidium isolates) suitable for the evaluation of therapies with potential for treatment of Cryptosporidium infections in people with AIDS. It is anticipated that one (1) cost-reimbursement, level-of-effort type contract will be awarded for a period of five (5) years beginning on or about July 23, 1997. It is anticipated that 1,675% total effort will be needed for this acquisition during the five-year period.
