COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 27,1996 PSA#1560US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Mines, Branch of Procurement,
PO Box 18070, Cochrans Mill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236-0070 A -- EVALUATION OF TECHNOLOGY TO REDUCE DIESEL PARTICULATES Contact
Point, Michael L Nowicki (412) 892-6427; Contracting Officer, Joseph A
Gilchrist, (412/892-6428). Negotiations are being conducted with the
University of Minnesota, Center for Diesel Research, to enter into a
cooperative agreement for the evaluation of technology to measure and
reduce diesel exhaust particulate matter. The objectives of the
agreement are to reduce exposure to diesel exhaust emissions by
developing and testing exhaust control techniques that lower specific
pollutants without creating unsafe conditions, develop a technique for
identifying out-of-tune engines in the field (tailpipe sniffer), and
provide technical assistance to the US mining industry and other
interested parties. Performance of work under this agreement will
require the use of Center's specialized diesel engine test facilities
and measurement instrumentation. This notice is for informational
purposes only. (082) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0010 19960326\A-0010.SOL)
