This project contemplates the renovation and expansion of SPD and a total redesign and replacement of the existing malfunctioning HVAC and ventilation systems to provide precise environmental control, necessary physical compartmentalization to separate soiled and clean areas, and environmental consideration such as temperature, humidity, ventilation, light and protection from contaminants. The renovation will permit to locate sterile areas of SPD directly below the operating rooms to provide a vertical transportation connection that will deliver sterilized supplies minimizing the possibility of contamination. At the present SPD occupies approximate 9,000 Sq. Ft. in the basement of the main hospital building, the project will renovate SPD in 13,500 GSF of the basement. Part of Acquisition & Materiel Management Service (A&MMS), Environmental Management Service (EMS) and Mail Room areas will also be relocated as a domino movement of approximate 10,500 GSF. The total area to be remodeled is approximate 24,000GSF. Also included in the project is the replacement of existing ETO sterilization equipment, the horizontal transport conveyor system, a cart wash system, the addition of required shower/locker/bathroom facilities and the direct one floor dumbwaiters from relocated SPD sterile and soiled/contaminated areas to the Operating Rooms directly above. The selected A/E firm shall have a comprehensive knowledge, experience, facilities, instruments, expertise, personnel, etc. to complete necessary site evaluation and survey work. This is not a request for proposals (RFP).
