COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 28,1996 PSA#1561Defense Nuclear Agency, 6801 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, VA, 22310-
3398 A -- AN INNOVATIVE COMPUTATIONAL METHOD FOR PREDICTING NEUTRON
TRANSPORT POC Tanya Stasiuk, Negotiator, (703) 325-5029, Scott Morton,
Contracting Officer, (703) 325-1200. Proposed contract effort is for
computational simulation of the linearized Boltzmann transport equation
to address the low energy neutron transport discrepancy of the current
radiation transport codes. The contractor shall establish and
benchmark a computational methodology for neutron transport based on
the Boltzmann-Fokker-Planck equation and compare the computational
methodology with atmospheric nuclear test data and current
computational capabilities. Contemplated period of performance is 22
months. The Defense Nuclear Agency (DNA) intends to award a sole source
contract to the University of Tennessee based upon its unsolicited
proposal. The technical approach is an innovative method for solving
the Boltzmann diffusion equation for application to low-energy neutron
transport. The proposed method is unique and provides a completely
fresh look at the thermal neutron discrepancy between calculations and
measurements. No solicitation will be issued. For information contact
