U.S. Army Missile Command intends to expand the scope of work
associated with the cost plus fixed fee contract with Loral Vought
Systems to support the design, development, fabrication, and test of a
low cost guidance and control package for the MLRS rocket. Loral
Vought Systems shall perform some or all of the following additional
work under the current contract: Design the necessary modifications to
the guidance and control electronics components to achieve packaging
within the missile ogive section. Design, fabricate, and test the
electronic safe and arm device for the warhead. Design, test, and
perform the shortening of the warhead section to include shortening the
center core burster, modification of missile bulkheads, modification of
bomblet foam packs, and shortening of the warhead skin. Perform
necessary operational evaluation and military specification
documentation of the launcher and missile software. Design and test new
launch tube covers and support sabots. Design, analyze, and test a new
motor configuration to include propellant and nozzle redesign. Perform
necessary testing for military safety release of the missile. All
responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which
shall be considered. To be considered a response shall be received no
