B -- SOURCES SOUGHT FOR PLUTONIUM CONTAMINATED SOIL REMEDIATION PROCESS POC Cynthia Kofa Brice, Negotiator, (703) 325-6628, Daniel R. Gonzales, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-6684. This is a sources sought announcement. The Defense Nuclear Agency (DNA) will not issue a solicitatiion as a result of this synopsis. DNA is seeking capability statements/qualification packages from organizations possessing the capability to provide technologically advanced processes to remediate plutonium (PU) contaminated soil. DNA is managing the remediation of a 24-acre area on Johnston Island in the North Pacific which is contaminated with PU. The objective is to process an estimated 42,000 metric tons (MT) of contaminated soil and reduce the volume of contaminated soil to less than 5,000 MT with the activity concentration less than 100 nanocuries per gram. The resultant clean soil activity must be less than 13.5 picocuries per gram. The soil is pre-sized to 1/2 inch minus and is a calcium carbonate matrix (dredged/crushed coral). Qualification packages should fully identify your organization's capability to perform such an effort to include your available process, process rate, process requirements for fresh water and electrical power, personnel qualifications, experience, facilities, past performance, and security clearances. All responses should be submitted within 30 days of publication of this synopsis. All responses received will be reviewed by DNA technical personnel for informational purposes only. See Note 25.
