R -- RENOVATE PATIENT WARDS 3A AND 3B SOL RFP 626-25-96 DUE 042496 POC Contracting Officer, William W. Thompson, (615)327-5315 Firm, fixed price A/E contract for design work for the renovation of patient wards 3A amd 3B at the VA Medical Center. This is not a request for proposals. The project title is ''626-079 Ward Upgrade PH2 for Patient Privacy''. Services to be contracted for will be the preparation of contract drawings and specifcations for the slab to slab renovation of approximately 18,000 square feet of existing hospital ward space. The initial contract will be for schematics and design development with an option for the construction documents and construction period services. The design work will include, but is not limited to, the following disciplines: architectual, mechanical, structural, electrical, plumbing, and inductial hygiene. Estimated construction cost is $2 million. Estimated contract time through the completion of design development is 90 calendar days with an additional 65 days for constrcution documents. A/E contractor will be required to have the following support functions: 1. design calculations, 2. spec. writer/editor, 3. drafting, and 4. clerical. A/E contractor will provide specifications, working drawings, as-built drawings, and misc. drawings. Selection will be based of the following criteria which are listed in order priority: 1. team proposed: Background of project manager and other key personnel and consultants; 2. Previous performance or team propsed for this project; 3. Location and facilities of working offices; 4. Proposed management team; 5. Cost Control; 6. Present proposed design approach for this project; 7. Schedule control; 8. Estimating effectiveness. Contractor must carry professional liability insurance.
