44135 58 -- SOURCES SOUGHT - HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE OF ACTS
GIGABIT NETWORK DUE 041196 POC Doug Hoder, Project Manager, (216)
433-3438, MS 54-6 Internet E-Mail: Doug.Hoder@lerc.nasa.gov. Sources
are sought to provide hardware and software maintenance, and
engineering support. The Advanced Communications Technology Satellite
(ACTS) Gigabit Network is a system of five High Data-Rate (HDR) ground
stations designed to be used with NASA's ACTS. The Gigabit Satellite
Network was designed to provide wideband services and extensions of
terrestrial SONET fiber networks through ACTS. The ground stations and
software were designed and constructed by BBN Systems and
Technologies, with Motorola GSTG serving as a major subcontractor. The
NASA ACTS Project Office and MITRE Corporation provided management of
the program. Each ground station is capable of transmitting and
receiving data at rates up to 622 Mb/s, compatible with terrestrial
SONET OC-3 and OC-12 service. The network can be configured to operate
with fixed beams, scan beams and steerable antenna of ACTS. No further
ground stations are planned to be constructed. For more information,
see the ACTS Web page at
''http://kronos.lerc.nasa.gov/acts/acts.html'', and the GSN Home page
at ''http://www.cgrg.ohio-state.edu/other/actsgsn/gsnhome.html''. All
interested parties may submit information for evaluation of their
capabilities to the above project manager prior to the closing date of
this synopsis. Effective October 1, 1995, the Internet will be the
only source of NASA Lewis Research Center MidRange synopses and
solicitations. Other synopses will continue to be published in the CBD
as well as the Internet. Internet Address:
