Building, P.O. Box 12874, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 A -- LONG-TERM EFFECTS OF PRENATAL DIETHYLSTILBESTROL (DES) EXPOSURE
ON BONE POC Contact James Doyle, Contracting Officer, (919) 541-0424
The National Institute of Environmental Sciences intends to negotiate
with the Universityof Chicago for a two-year contract involving the
Chicago DES cohort data base in order toexamine the long-term effects
of prenatal exposure to DES on bone density and bonemetabolism in the
daughters of the cohort. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as set forth in
FAR6.302-1. This source is the only known responsible source in the
United States to havedeveloped a DES cohort derived from a randomized
clinical trial of DES with an establishedcontrol and comparison group.
The cost to the Government which would be involved in firstdeveloping
a control and comparison group and then updating and expanding the
data base forthe purposes stated above, make competition unfeasible.
